Entries can only be accepted from paid up members.
1) Identical images will not be accepted more than once unless the image has scored 15 or less in:-
a). Open Print Competitions – colour or mono
b). Open Digital Competitions
c). Any other competitions where individual images are the accepted format
The above rule does not apply to the Image of the Year or Panel Competition.
2). The Panel Competition can include previously used or new images.
3). Variations of previously submitted images will be accepted if genuine Composites, with no more than 50% from the originally image.
4). All entries for the Print Competitions must be brought along on the evening of the competition and handed to the Print Competition Secretary by 7.15pm. Titles of images must be submitted to the competition Secretary by midnight on the Sunday before the competition by e-mail if possible. Receipt of these will be confirmed by return.
5). All entries for the D.P.I. (digitally projected image) competitions must be submitted to the competition secretary by midnight on the Sunday before the competition by attachment to e-mail if possible, or Memory Stick. E-Mail entries will be confirmed by return.
6). The Club enters a number of external competitions and it is assumed that, unless advised otherwise, the Club’s Selection Committee may enter any members images (print or digital) into such competitions.
7). Members images may be displayed in the Club’s website unless advised otherwise.
8). The Competition Secretaries have the right to refuse to accept entries to any of the Club’s competitions.
9). The Committee reserve the right to adopt a flexible approach to competitions and competition rules. However, members would be consulted prior to any major changes to the rules.
10). A maximum of 20 points can be awarded to images entered in the Open Competitions (and 20 points in the Panel Competition), with half points at the discretion of the judge.
The term “Open” means any subject of your choice.
There will be a minimum of two colour print competitions, two mono print competitions and two DPI competitions each season.
Colour print / Mono print and DPI (digital projected image)
(Mono includes B&W, Sepia, or one Colour Tone). Two tones constitute a colour image. ANY colour in an otherwise “mono” image constitutes a colour image.
Each member may enter a maximum of three prints, per competition. Each print must have the author’s name, and print title displayed on the back in the top left hand corner, preferably using the labels supplied by the club. Each print must be mounted on EAF regulation size 50cm x 40cm mount board and the backs must be free from any sticky substances to avoid contaminating the face of other entries. Ideally the image should be double mounted to help avoid any damage.
DPI. (Digital projected image) competitions:-
Each member may enter a maximum of three DPIs. per competition. Each image must be JPEG format, and sRGB. Colour space. They must be no more than 1400 pixels horizontally and no more than 1050pixels vertically. The image title and author’s name must be entered in the “properties” box of each image.
The season’s winner in each class will be the person with the highest combined score from all entries (images) in that class.
Members may submit one panel of prints, consisting of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 prints. Images from the current season’s competitions as well as new images are eligible for the Panel Competition.
Submission, sizes and labelling remains the same as in the individual Print Competitions. It must be indicated on the back of each print the position where it should be displayed in the panel
Points scored in the Panel Competition (maximum 20) will be included in the Photographer of the Year competition.
The League Table will be circulated after each competition and published annually at the Club’s AGM.
Photographer of the Year competition:-
The scores of all prints / DPI’s from the season’s Open Competitions and the panel competition will be combined to determine the Club’s Photographer of the Year. It is in the interest of each member to submit entries in all competitions to enhance their chances in this competition.
Image of the Year competition:-
This annual competition is open to all members for images which have been previously entered into club competitions during the current season (Print, DPI and Panel). The number of images each member can enter will be advised prior to the competition.
Requests by members for additional competitions will be considered at the beginning of each season and, if possible, will be included in the Club’s annual programme.
Best Colour Print, Best Mono Print, Best DPI, Best Panel, Image of the Year and Photographer of the Year.
Certificates: – Trophy winners plus second and third in each category will receive a certificate.
